Educational Technology and Copyright Law

This article is very helpful because it helps you better understand the laws of copyright. Copyright is a federal law that protects your work that could include literary, artistic, written, musical and some other types of work. Your work that you produce is already copyrighted without any paperwork. Someone can comment and research your work and it is now against the law.  Also, if your work is license, it is not fair use. This article will help me when I am working on a project, research paper, or any school work.

Do Now 2/22

In my opinion, I believe that Apple is doing the right thing. They do not want to build a "backdoor" to the iPhone so that the government can access control over an iPhone from an investigation. The investigation the FBI is working on is the San Bernardino Case. Apple fears that if they create a backdoor, it could have the potential to unlock any iPhone when put in the wrong hands. Terrorism is a major issue that needs to be stopped but this new technology that Apple might be forced to make will not make the issue better, if anything it will make it much worse. If a hacker gets access to someone's smartphone, they could have information including contacts, notes, health data, photos, music, private messages and where our location is.

Web 2.0: Multimedia Blog Pre-posting

This year as a freshman in high school, I am taking World History. Ms. Garvin is my teacher for this subject. She became a teacher at Wood-Ridge High School straight out of college. She went to Purdue University.  I expected to learn about the geography of the continents around the world. Also, I expected to learn about cultures and religions world-wide. I enjoy learning new topics in Ms. Garvin's class.
Even though we are not finished with the year, we have learned many interesting topics. http://my.hrw.com/ We have studied many continents, cultures and religions, tribes, and ancient civilizations. Also, we have learned about the Medieval time period, The Enlightenment period, and The Industrial Revolution. All of these topics have an impact on our world still to this day. We have learned so much in the past 2 marking periods, I can not wait to see what we learn next!
Ms. Garvin has a very strict grading policy.http://wood-ridge.schoolwires.net/Page/3199 All of our projects and DBQ's have a stapled rubric on the back. 40% of our grade is summative assessments. 10% is homework. Another 10% is formative assessments. Lastly 40% is performance-based assessments. In her class, we watch history documentaries and YouTube videos of people traveling around the world. They are very interesting to watch, I get so excited when we watch them!

We use the chrome books in Ms. Gavin's class sometimes. We research for our DBQ's when we have time in class. Also if we have a project like a web quest for example, we use the computers to do it. When we take notes, Ms. Garvin makes slides and we take notes from the projector. It is much easier then Ms. Garvin writing the notes on the board. The notes are easier to read because she can just enlarge it if we can not see it. Chrome books and the projector help my class a lot in world history. Ms. Garvin is determined for her students to not only pass, but to enjoy learning about history!
