Tech Article 4/22


  • The FBI has paid over a million dollars for a software to crack the iPhone that was used by one of the San Bernadine attackers

  • There is a rumor that the FBI cracked the phone with the help from a third party

  • The government now backed out the case since the phone was cracked

  • The FBI is not sharing what information was found on the phone yet

4/15 tech article


  • Scientists have created a chip in the brain that "reanimates" a paralyzed man's hand

  • 5 years ago, Ian Burkhart was paralyzed from the neck down from a car accident

  • 2 years ago, he volunteered at at Ohio State University's development of reanimation technology 

  • This chip sends his thoughts to his hand bypassing his spinal cord

  • Burkhart has to be connected to a computer to be able to have function in his hand

Wiki Dissection

  1. What is the purpose of this Wiki? The purpose of this wiki is to give information about disruptive technology in the classroom. 
  2. When was the last post? The last post was november of 2007
  3. How was this Wiki created/designed? This wiki was created by someone who had research/information about disruptive technology in the classroom, they made an account and posted it. Other people edited this and added more information as well. 
  4. What would you add to this particular wiki? I would add more up-to-date information, resources and links.
  5. What did you learn after reading this wiki? I have learned that an Internet Telephony allows your computer to be used like a telephone, you can send voice overs to someone. 
  6. If you had to create a Wiki with a team, what would be the specific topic (s)? If I created a wiki, I would make one on allstar cheerleading. 
  7. How can Wikis be used in the classroom or in education? Wikis can be used to look at research on a specific topic.

W-R Wikipedia Findings Page

  • Wood-Ridge allows 7th-12th grade now, on the wiki it says we only have 9th-12th
  • We do not have tennis anymore
  • Wood-Ridge High School is now Wood-Ridge Junior Senior High School
  • In the snapshot, it says that Dr. DeNobile is our principal but Mr. Petrocelli is our principal
  • We do not have a cross-country team anymore
  • No golf team
  • faculty to student ratio is now 23:1
  • We have 578 students now (7th-12th)
  • Increase of 8 students per grade (9th-12th) 33 in total
  • Add our school youtube channel and take out the Devil's Advocate

Smart Lense

  • In South Korea, Samsung has been testing a new type of contacts since September of 2014

  • The contacts that they are designing allows you to send videos and pictures that are from the contact's built in camera by blinking. 

  • The photo and/or video will be sent through the paired smartphone

  • Although Google is said to be testing smart lenses as well, Samsung just got a patent last week
